What you should know when visiting coastal Kenya

Consisting of the first six counties as outlined by the Kenyan constitution, the coast of Kenya comprises one city; Mombasa and several smaller towns spread all across. From the first in their order is Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, and Taita Taveta counties.

Widely placed, these counties are home to some of the finest tourist destinations in the world.  Bosting of the famous sandy beaches along the long shores of the Indian ocean, world heritage historic sites, game parks, and reserves with the most unique combination of animals and bird sanctuaries , not forgetting the wonderfully warm climate so widely appraised the world over and of course the rich cultural heritage existing as a blend of the various communities in the region.

The region is home to the famous Mijikenda tribes, the Giriama, Pokomo, Taita , and the Swahilis who blend to give the region its unique diversity. The people are friendly and probably the most pleasant to interact with. Swahili dishes are another level delicacy anyone visiting the region should never miss on.

Having worked as a tour operator and guide for some time now, I would highly recommend a visit to the region. In my next article I will just be expounding more on where and why should you endeavour to visit this magical place at least once every year.
