Reuters reported on Oct. 18 that the US dollar was near a 32-year high, or above 149 yen, trading at 148.855 yen after gaining a single overnight high of 149.10. The first since August 1990 has resulted in fears that the dollar could rise to 150 yen, prompting investors to prepare for further yen intervention by the Japanese government to stabilize the country's currency.

However, the US dollar fell near a one-and-a-half-week low as Britain's upside-down economic policy shift came under intense criticism. which supports various currencies of Europe, including the strong pound.

The US dollar and yen have gained 3% since October 5, when the US dollar permanently strengthened above 145 yen. It has been at that level for about two weeks, fueled by investor fears after Japan's National Bank intervened in the market for the first time since 1998.

 

Japanese Finance Minister Chunishi Suzuki admitted after a meeting of the world's top seven industrialized countries (G7) that no discussions had been held. about harmonized measures to help manage currency fluctuations

Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yelen also made a clear statement that The United States has no intention of joint measures, and that the US dollar's appreciation is a natural result of the tightening of monetary measures in the United States. and in other countries which are different
