Hussein Aden Somo, 55, claimed that he was forced to take action after the dog bit him, from a car window as he passing by.

 According to a police report, Somo, who claimed to be a licensed gun owner, shot the dog during the Sunday incident using a Glock Pistol.

A man has shot dead a dog at the Quickmart Parking lot in Embakasi, Nairobi.

Hussein Aden Somo, 55, claimed that he was forced to take action after the dog bit him, from a car window as he was passing by.

According to a police report, Somo, who claimed to be a licensed gun owner, shot the dog during the Sunday incident using a Glock Pistol.

"Aden had parked his Mercedes Benz next to another vehicle when he was about to enter his car after shopping, a dog bit him through the window, and as a reaction, he aimed at the dog and fired one round of 9mm through the same window," the report reads.

He then drove to the Embakasi AAR Medical Center for first aid, where the responding officers found him.

His shoulder had been bandaged.

The police said they disarmed Somo and, took his gun which was loaded  with 11 rounds of 9mm and a Firearm Certificate for further investigation.

They said they recovered a spent cartridge at the supermarket parking lot.

The dog owner has not yet been found to help with investigations.
