President-elect William Ruto attends Sakaja's swearing-in
President-elect William Ruto today, August 25 was in attendance in the swearing-in of Nairobi governor-elect Johnson Sakaja.
Ruto arrived at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) at 9:50am.
The president-elect was accompanied to the event by several MPs-elect affiliated to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party.
Sakaja won the governorship race in the August 9, 2022 elections, getting 699,393 votes against Polycarp Igathe’s 573,516 votes.
Justice Roselyn Aburili was picked by Chief Justice Martha Koome to preside over Sakaja’s swearing-in.
Caroline Kabucho, on the other hand, was selected by the chief justice to swear in Sakaja’s deputy, James Muchiri.
