Mark Masai fired from NTV
Sources at Nation Media Group indicates that Mark Masai, who anchors prime time news and doubles as talkshow host, may have been sacrificed among employees targeted for earning big salaries.
The newspaper division of NMG has already seen big names – including Kenya Editors Guild President Churchill Otieno and Taifa Leo Managing Editor Peter Ngare – leave as part of reforms engineered by Mr Gitagama and new editorial director, Mr Joe Ageyo.
In a statement dated Thursday, December 1, Masai expressed that he was taking a commercial break and was optimistic about the future.
However, he did not indicate whether he had landed another job or would sign up as a communication consultant.
He, nonetheless, noted that he had a great time at the station, which he stated had immense talent.
Masai's exit also came days after the station reshuffled its top leadership citing changing media landscape and the harsh economic climate that has affected revenue for media houses globally.
