DCI raids Malala's Kakamega home

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) raided former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala's home in Milimani, Kakamega on Thursday.

The officers forced their way in by breaking the padlocks at the gates of his Milimani home in Kakamega at around mid-day with Malala said to be locked inside the house by the time the officers were raiding.

It is unclear why the officers are going after the senator who just lost the Kakamega gubernatorial race to Fernandes Barasa.

Speaking outside his Milimani, Kakamega house, on Thursday, September 1, Malala's legal team stated that they were not privy to the orders issued.

A representative of the team further added that they were in consultation with the police as they sought clarity on his pending arrest.

"I have not seen any arrest warrant. What we are sure of is that this witchhunt arises from the elections that have just been carried out which we feel is a bit unfair.
