William Ruto Trounces Raila Odinga in Latest Presidential Poll
A new opinion poll shows that Deputy President William Ruto is ahead of his main arch-rival Raila Odinga ahead of the August 9 General Election.
According to the opinion poll by Intel Research Solutions, Ruto leads Raila, the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential flag bearer at 49%.
Raila Odinga trails William Ruto in the new poll In the poll released on Tuesday, July 5, Raila, taking a fifth stab at the presidency in the August contest managed 42%.
The poll goes further to show that Ruto, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential candidate is likely to manage a round one win against Raila going by the numbers.
"A runoff is not a possibility in this case, given that there is a month of intense campaign ahead to garner the minimum 50+1," Intel Research Solutions said.
While the undecided Kenyans as of Monday, July 4 stood at 3.7%, other presidential candidates David Waihiga and George Wajackoyah polled 1.1% and 2.8% respectively.
"Raila maintains popularity of 42.5% has been the same for the two polls in a month, giving him a runner-up position in the race," the research firm further said.
