Tecra died under unclear circumstances on May 2, 2020,

while in the company of her boyfriend Omari Lali, the postmortem report indicating she died from trauma to the skull.

Tuesday’s highlights will include the testimony of medical

experts who examined Tecra after she was injured and after her death.

are set to be among those testifying in the inquest.

The court is also set to hear testimonies from the doctors

who examined the late Tecra's body in Lamu before it was

airlifted to Nairobi by Amref Flying Doctors.

Renowned neurosurgeon Professor Oluoch Olunya who

examined the body at the Nairobi Hospital is also lined up to

give his testimony.

Others expected to testify in the inquest are three Lamu

residents who will appear in court after Principal Magistrate

Zainab Abdul, who is presiding over the matter, issued their

warrants of arrest for failing to testify during proceedings that

took place last month.

The three are reported to have been the first people at the

scene where Tecra got the injuries that caused her death.

The deceased’s boyfriend, Omar Lali, was allegedly living with

her in a private residence where she got injured after a fall.

Lali was arrested in Lamu on Monday, May 4, by homicide

detectives after police found inconsistencies in the

circumstances leading to Tecra's death.

Lali no show during inquest

Last month, Lali failed to show up at the court after he was

summoned to testify in the alleged murder of his late

girlfriend.

The magistrate issued another summon directing Omar, who

is the prime suspect, to appear before her for the inquest

proceedings on Monday, July 19.

On Wednesday, June 9, Abdul had ordered the arrest of Lali's

associates, Kusai Lali, Ali Bakari and Abdul Hakina, for

contempt after they skipped previous court summons.

A few months ago, Abdul ruled that witnesses had adversely

mentioned Omar in the matter, noting that he must appear

either in person or through his lawyers during the next hearing.

“It is important that he participates in the proceedings. The

summons are for him to appear in court and will also be

required at some point to testify in person,” ruled Abdul.
