Social Media Marketing Strategy | Reasons Why Non-Strategic Social Media Marketing Won’t Bring Business

Social media marketing strategy means pre-meditated, pre-planned social media marketing. Nothing is more frustrating than putting time into creating content, showing up on social media channels, working to ensure your captions are just right…but just to hear crickets!

Trust me, I’ve been there. After leaving my ways of traditional marketing, I had to figure out how to build my personal brand in order to attract more clients to my brand-new social media consultation and management business, faster than I ever had to before.

More than ever, building my personal brand and an engaged audience was an important part of growing my business. I had to completely revamp how I was using social media in order to really gain clients as well as attract more audiences.

So let’s get real about your social media presence (online visibility). The number of followers you have has nothing to do with how much money you can make from social media marketing. I know that doesn’t sound believable, but it’s a digital marketing fact.

The number of followers you have is not an indicative measure of how much money you’re likely to make from social media marketing.

Posting ‘cute’ content, or just engaging for engagement’s sake, which has nothing to do with your business will not cultivate an audience that’s interested in what you offer.

In the same way, posting randomly is not going to attract new, engaged audience members on a consistent basis.

Solely posting about your latest sale (products on offer) is also not going to prompt droves of people to contact you. Throwing together content just to get something posted isn’t going to work either.

The main thing that stops people from growing their businesses by using social media is lack of a competent strategy. The moment you stop listening and innovating and you get to doing it all by yourself, is the moment your business stagnation starts, or worse still, regression.

Social media marketing strategy means never posting anything without a plan. That will only keep you stuck in the busy work – feeling like you’re doing things, when in reality, you’re just wasting your time and energy on activities that aren’t doing your business any good.

You can spend all the money and time in the world organizing photoshoots and creating content, but if you aren’t thinking about how to build an audience that’s actually interested in your product, no one will see your amazing content, and you won’t grow your audience. Consequently, you won’t be converting anyone into a paying customer.

Having a solid social media marketing strategy in place will relieve you much stress, save you much time and energy and eventually attract real consumers to your business. Consistency and creativity are key factors in social media marketing if at all you intend to do it in the right way.

Laying a well thought out, goal-oriented social media strategy will help you grow a community of engaged followers that you can eventually convert into customers. You will no longer be worried about what to post.

This is critical to effective social media marketing. It’s not the same as posting on your personal profile – knowing how to use hashtags or post cool Stories (on Facebook and WhatsApp status). This is just a small portion of utilizing social platforms for business purpose.

Having a social media marketing strategy is inevitable at this age. If you don’t have a plan in place, prepare for more disappointment in 2020. Alternatively, set the time and consult a digital agency so that they take your business on a higher notch in digital marketing.
