Nixon Korir, a Langata member of parliament, gave up on winning re-election on Wednesday, August 10.

On behalf of the UDA, Korir addressed his supporters that he was appreciative of the Lang’ata community for giving him the opportunity to serve them for five years.

Additionally, he sent his congratulations to Felix Odiwuor, also known as Jalang’o, an ODM candidate who was widely expected to win.

“I  sincerely thank you for according me an opportunity to be your Member of Parliament for the last 5 years. It’s been a great opportunity that gave me an avenue to contribute to our nation-building and service to the people,” the former aide to Deputy President William Ruto stated.

Korir stated that from the results he had received that they had tallied at the Generali Centre, his competitor Jalango had an early lead.

“My competitor Jalango has a lead and I want to congratulate him as he prepares to take the mantle and move Langata forward. Siasa si chuki. God bless Langata,” he remarked.

The UDA MP had expressed certainty in keeping his seat in the current General Election on Tuesday.

Korir expressed trust in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct a legitimate election after casting his ballot at the Lang’ata Road Primary School.

“According to the voters’ turnout and the campaign, definitely we are winning. But I can see the town is a little bit slower, maybe because it was a little bit cold in the morning.

I can see it is now picking and we hope that it will continue that way. I am yet to look at the actual numbers in terms of the voter turnout,” he stated.

He also praised the IEBC for ensuring that the procedure goes well and expressed confidence in their ability to carry out their duty.
