Jack Ma foundation in Africa is giving you an opportunity to become great. Have you ever thought or imagined yourself with Ksh. 10 million of your own for that your small enterprise? Now adding a zero to that figure would be too big a dream for your short sleep of probably 7 hours.
The Africa Netpreneur Initiative (ANPI) has laid a whole Ksh. 100 Million (USD 10 M) for grab by African entrepreneurs. Note that this amount is not being distributed to 100 SMEs or 10 entrepreneurs; the whole amount will be carried home by only one netpreneur.
The aim of Jack Ma’s Foundation is to see Africa’s digital ‘lions’ rise high up to inspire the world with what they are capable of. The sole qualification for this prize is one being a citizen of any of the 54 African countries. Age, gender or the specific sector don’t matter, provided one has a feasible entrepreneurial idea. However, small enterprises, female entrepreneurs and those whose projects or ideas involves community improvement will be more advantaged.
The prizing initiative was born from Jack Ma’s trip to Africa back in July, 2017 seeing what entrepreneurial potential lie within Africa. It seeks to award 10 African entrepreneurs with USD 1Million (Ksh. 100M) each to help them develop businesses and Africa in general.
The foundation will work with a number of African partners including, 22 On Sloane in Sandton, South Africa; RiseUp in North Africa, NaiLab in Nairobi, Kenya just to mention but a few. A team of judges from five African regions will represent the entire continent in selecting the best 10 entrepreneurs.
To join the competition, each business will be required to create three videos- one for the founder, then an employee’s and thirdly from a customer. Applicants must be in operation for at least three years with a clear mission.

Application for the ANPI will officially close on 30 June, 2019. Those who will qualify for the semi-finals will be announced in August while the 10 finalists will be unveiled in November.
