What is a bobbin?

A bobbin is a spindle on a sewing machine that the thread like Nylon DTY and Polyester DTY goes around. It is used to wind the thread onto the spindle. It is also used to hold the fabric taut while you sew.

Winding a bobbin on a morse sewing machine

If you are having trouble winding your bobbin on a morse sewing machine, follow these simple steps.
1) Open the cover of the machine and remove the bobbin case.
2) Lift the crown wheel off of the spindle.
3) Hold the spindle in your left hand and lift up on the left side of the bobbin case with your right hand. The bobbin should be easily removed from the case.
4) Replace the crown wheel and reattach the cover just like using a Doubling Machine.

5) Wind the new bobbin according to your machine’s instructions. Be sure to use a thread guide to keep track of where you are winding.
