Fear of an Ethiopian war could turn into genocide

This war changed its face as it began to expand into areas other than Tigray, even though it was predominant. Also recently, another group, known as the OLA, announced that it had joined forces with the TPLF to confront the government forces and overthrow the Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed.

The group is being accused by the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) of being behind the attacks that killed 150 people in the densely populated Oromia region, as well as Ahmara, the second most populous part of the country. that kind.

In the aftermath of the massacre in areas inhabited by Ahmara tribes, it is said that the locals are going to take revenge and kill other non-ethnic people, the EHRC has never announced the ethnicity of the people who are going to take revenge, or the killers, although they said more than 60.

This is not the first time the OLA has been accused of involvement in mass killings, as even in March this year, the group was accused of killing more than 300 others.

The group denied the allegations, saying the allegations were aimed at discrediting them, especially since May this year, when the Ethiopian government identified them as a terrorist group.

The United Nations says more than five million people are at risk of starvation in the war-torn region, while USAID feeds 7% of Ethiopia's population, saying it could be starved this week.
