Spain striker Alvaro Morata recently told Spanish radio that he and his

family had been abused during Euro 2020.

Alvaro Morata says he and his family were targeted by fans online

following a poor spell in the Euro 2020 group stage.

Morata has not had the most prolific of starts to his Euro 2020 campaign

as his Spain side barely made it out of the Group stage thanks to an

emphatic win in their final group game.

The 28-year old claimed his wife and children had been shouted at in

Seville and he was also subjected to abuse on social media.

"People have been saying 'I hope your children die'. I'd like people to put

themselves in my shoes and think what it's like to get threats to my family," Morata told Cadena Cope station as cited in BBC.

"My wife and children have come to the stadium in Seville with Morata

on the back of their shirts and people have been shouting at them."It's complicated. I understand people booing me for missing chances but there's a limit."

Morata is currently on loan at Juventus but his parent club is Spain LA Liga title holders Atletico Madrid.

In the three games Spain have played in the group stages of the Euro

2020, Morata missed a number of chances, including a penalty i n the 5-0

thrashing of Slovakia on Wednesday, June 23.

There were initial signs that he was not in the best of books as far as fans are concerned when he was booed in the pre-tournament friendly

against Portugal, something which only added to his pressure.

Despite the abuse, Morata revealed Spain teammates were fully in support

of him amid a dip in goal-scoring prowess.

"I'm proud of the fact I picked up the ball [to take the penalty] after people booed me in the warm-up. A few years ago I would have been devastated but I'm really motivated. Whoever thinks the opposite doesn't know me," he said. Can Spain win Euro 2020?

There is no question that Spain certainly has the capacity to go all the way in the Euros but they will have to up their game if they are to beat

some other sides considered favourites in the competition.

Heavy hitters like Belgium, Italy, France, England and Germany are still well in the competition and some of the named nations have gone through to the last 16 with a 100% record in the group stage,
